Why does Tero adopt an impact approach?
Today, environmental preservation has become a global priority. Tero believes that every business must play an active role in protecting our planet. Adopting a more sustainable approach is not only an ecological necessity but also an opportunity to create authentic and enriching experiences for clients. By integrating responsible practices, Tero aims to inspire other businesses and individuals to embrace a more environmentally friendly lifestyle.
How Tero implements more sustainable practices?
1. Eco-friendly design and construction
Tero Lodge Herbeumont and Tero Foresthouse Martué are designed to harmoniously integrate into their natural surroundings. In Herbeumont, local materials such as larch wood and wood wool for insulation are used, thus minimizing the carbon footprint and supporting the local economy. The local wood cladding adds an authentic and natural touch to the lodge.
2. Use of recycled materials
At Tero Foresthouse Martué, outdoor furniture is made from recycled pallet wood, crafted by homeless individuals through A Coeur Space. This initiative reduces waste and gives a second life to materials while supporting an important social cause.
3. Renewable energy and water management
Martué stands out for its energy autonomy and sustainable water management. Spring water is responsibly collected and naturally filtered to supply the plumbing systems. Electricity comes from solar panels, contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions. In Herbeumont, rainwater is used for daily needs, and solar panels are planned for the future.
4. Partnership and biodiversity project: Habebee
The collaboration with the artisanal soap maker Habebee provides natural care products for clients. Together, a pollination project has been initiated, with the installation of 130 beehives on the sites over the next five years. This project demonstrates Tero’s commitment to preserving biodiversity.
5. Local food
A local diet is prioritized. The charcuterie, eggs, dairy products, and cheeses served to guests come from carefully selected local producers. This approach guarantees the freshness of the products, preserves the region’s gastronomic traditions, and supports the local economy.
A Commitment to a more sustainable future
The path to sustainability is fraught with challenges, but Tero is committed to continuous improvement. By openly sharing challenges and successes, Tero hopes to inspire others to follow this example. The goal is to continue learning, growing, and working towards a more sustainable future.
