Celebrating biodiversity with Tero and Habeebee 🐝

On International Biodiversity Day, it’s essential to highlight initiatives that help preserve our natural environment.

But what is it?

This day, celebrated every year on May 22, is a United Nations initiative to raise global awareness of the importance of the Earth’s biological diversity. It aims to promote understanding and awareness of the environmental issues linked to the diversity of ecosystems and species that make up our planet.

In this spirit of preservation, our partnership with Habeebee exemplifies an innovative and respectful commitment to biodiversity.

At Tero, well known for our activities and event venues, our commitment goes beyond hospitality and catering. Having collaborated for several years with Habeebee, an artisan soap manufacturer that creates skincare products from raw materials harvested from beehives, we have integrated an ecological dimension into our operations. Integrating Habeebee soaps into our establishments was a natural first step in our partnership.

A mutual commitment to biodiversity

By continuing this alliance with Habeebee, 130 beehives will be installed on our premises over the next five years, with the ambition of producing 90 kilos of honey by 2024 and increasing our production to 700 kilos by 2025. We are already incorporating this honey into the recipes of our catering service and our restaurants, and it is available in our latest hotel, La Malle Poste, with the eventual aim of offering it in all our venues!

This ambitious project not only promotes the natural pollination of our local environments, but also contributes to the ethical and sustainable production of honey and wax.

Habeebee, for its part, remains true to its mission of supporting the bees’ natural cycle. The natural beekeeping practices adopted allow the bees to produce their wax and accumulate sufficient honey, without excessive intervention. This approach ensures minimal impact on bees while allowing surplus honey to be harvested, a practice that benefits both bees and the environment.

Education and awareness at the heart of our project

Our partnership is not limited to the use of beehive products; it also encompasses a strong educational dimension. Together with Habeebee, we have set up a Bee Your Team teambuilding activity to introduce everyone to natural beekeeping. These initiatives, ranging from didactic walks to the discovery of the complete colony cycle, encounters with bees, honey tastings and candle-making, reinforce ecological awareness and encourage more sustainable practices within our community. Eventually, the ambition is to organize 50 teambuildings a year at Rabanisse Farm, to continue sharing and extending our commitment to biodiversity.

Towards a greener future

In anticipation of the 2030 ban on single-use miniature plastic cosmetics and hygiene products, we are encouraging Habeebee to develop a range of liquid and bulk skincare products, helping to reduce our environmental impact.

On May 22, International Biodiversity Day, we reaffirm our commitment to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future. Join us in this celebration, and in our efforts to make every day Biodiversity Day.
